Shanghai Boiler Works Co., Ltd. is a specialized manufacturer of boilers and power-generation equipment. Its manufacturing processes involve the forming and fabrication of large steel components, placing demanding requirements on heavy plate rolling equipment.
For its container workshop, Shanghai Boiler Works ordered an EZW12Y-1500Tx3200 Fully Hydraulic Four-Roll Plate Rolling Machine from EZHONG.
A key requirement of this project was the ability to handle not only conventional cold rolling, but also warm rolling up to 650°C and hot rolling up to 1,050°C.

The upper and lower rolls are both driven, providing controlled and stable plate feeding during rolling. The hydraulic system controls the vertical and inclined movement of the lower and side rolls and enables precise positioning of the working rolls.
The machine provides a maximum upper-roll pressing force of 1500T, combined with a 450,000 N·m upper-roll drive torque, providing the forming capacity required for heavy steel plate rolling.
The machine incorporates dedicated thermal protection measures to support warm and hot rolling. These include heat-resistant roll bearings and seals, thermal insulation between the hydraulic cylinders and working rolls, protected displacement sensors and hydraulic oil cooling.
The upper, lower and side rolls are made from 60CrMnMo forged hot-rolling steel, heat-treated to HB280-320. The technical specification requires controlled forging, heat treatment and machining processes, together with material certification and ultrasonic inspection.
The machine includes front and rear side supports, a top support and a powered feeding system. The side supports provide 25-ton lifting capacity each, while the top support can support workpieces up to Ø6,000 mm and 35 tons.
The hydraulic system incorporates pressure regulation, synchronization, speed and working-roll speed control circuits. Electro-hydraulic proportional valves and displacement sensors control the synchronized movement of the lower and side rolls, with positioning accuracy of ±0.15 mm. The control system uses PLC-based data acquisition and logic control.
From plate thickness and material strength to rolling diameter, working width and forming temperature, every heavy plate rolling application requires a properly engineered machine configuration.
